Course Certificate shall not be issued to students unless they show progress during the year by their regularity of attendance, diligent application to class work, and securing the required percentage of marks in various tests.
A student must attend college not less than three fourths of the working days and complete the course of study prescribed.
All the applications for leave of domestic nature must be applied in the prescribed form obtained from the college countersigned by parent or guardian and handed over to the class teacher.
Students should get permission from the H.O.D. for absenting from classes.
In case of long absence due to sickness, production of medical certificate is a must.
Every student shall attend the college regularly and punctually on all working days.
The first bell is rung five minutes before the beginning of the morning and afternoon sessions and the remaining at the hour fixed for the beginning of each class.
Before the first bell of each session, students should go to their respective classes and take their seats quietly. Calendar 2019-2020 21
Attendance will be marked at the beginning of each class hour. A student who is not present in the class when attendance is marked shall lose attendance for the session.
Each Academic year consists of two semesters of 90 days each. Students without 75% of total attendance per semester are not allowed to write the university examinations.
If a student is absent for one or more hours either in the morning or in the afternoon session he / she shall lose half a day attendance.

Nanjil Catholic College of Arts and Science, Kaliyakkavilai has been established by Nanjil Milk Plant (a unit of the Diocese of Kuzhithurai), Mulagumoodu, Government of Tamilnadu G.O. No. 150 dated 26.7.2012.
Nanjil Milk Plant, Mulagumoodu, a dreamy and innovative project of the Diocese of Kuzhithurai, has been rendering noble service to the poor, the lowest and the lost through its manifold welfare and developmental programmes. Every year it offers several lakhs of rupees as scholarships to the needy and poor students of the region to pursue their higher studies in Professional Colleges and Arts & Science Colleges. Rev. Fr. S. Maria Rajendran, Former Managing Director of Nanjil Milk Plant mooted the idea of starting a college to cater to the higher education needs of people of the region. This idea was without an iota of hesitation approved by Most Rev. Dr. Peter Remigius, Bishop of Kottar and Nanjil Milk board members. Finally it has been resolved to establish the college at Kaliyakkavilai.
St. Joseph’s Nanjil Farmers’ Association, Nanjil Integrated Dairy Development Programme and Kuzhithurai Integral Development Social Services (KIDSS) are also involved in this noble work. Most Rev. Dr. Peter Remigius is the first Patron of the college. After the bifurcation of the Diocese, the college comes under Kuzhithurai Diocese, withMost Rev. Dr. Jeromedhas, SDB, Bishop of Kuzhithurai as the Chief Patron and President. Rev. Fr. M. Eckermens Michael as the Secretary and Correspondent of the college. The Very Rev. Msgr. S. Jesu Rethnam as the Vice-President of the College Committee. The college has been administered by the College Committee, constituted by the Bishop of Kuzhithurai. Rev. Fr. A. Domi Lilil Raja serve as the Bursar of the College and Dr. A. Meenakshi Sundara Rajan is the Principal of the College.
The college functions in spacious and well-ventilated rooms with modern infra-structure facilities. The college is equipped with modern computer labs with latest operating systems and packages, science laboratories, an exhaustive library with an enviable collection of books on various fields and a massive auditorium which can accommodate more than 3000 students.
The college has 85 highly qualified and committed teaching staff and 34 Non-teaching staff, with determined efforts, scaling new heights in academic and co-curricular activities. The college has a strength of 1560 girls and 560 boys in various departments.
Various Employability courses have been introduced in the college campus on shift basis. Shift I focuses on developing the core skills. Shift-II is concerned with imparting career oriented programmes, to enhance the quality and technical skills in today’s knowledge based global economy. In Shift-III classes, coaching is provided for the students who appear for competitive job market.
Apart from the academic side, the college imprints its footsteps in co-curricular activities by allowing the students to participate in various inter and intramural tournaments with meticulous campus discipline. The PTA and Alumni Association were formally registered.
32 members of the teaching staff are Ph.D. holders and 25 are pursuing Ph.D. Fourteen members of the staff of various departments are approved as research guides by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. We have applied to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University to recognise the Departments of Tamil, Physics, Chemistry and Commerce as research centres.
We have applied to the University Grants Commission to include our college under 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act, 1956. The Nanjil Research Forum of our college intends to publish a multidisciplinary research journal, 'Jounal of Nanjil Research Forum' and all steps are taken to get ISSN.
